Psittacosaurus is a small bipedal ceratopsian from the Barremian-Albian stages of the Cretaceous period. It is known by many species.

The Psittacosaurus was added to The Isle dev branch in Patch 0.1.10.2540, and was officially added in Patch 0.1.10.2544.

In Real Life[]

Psittacosaurus is an herbivorous ceratopsian with a robust skull and sharp beak to functionally tear-off tough plant material. It is the most species-rich non-avian dinosaur, with 11 species currently described.

Psittacosaurus species vary in size, with P.mongoliensis reaching up to 2 meters (6.5 feet) in length and weighing up to 44 lbs (20 kg), while P.ordosensis is the smallest known species, 20% smaller then P.mongoliensis.

Studies of coloration by the preserved skin pigmentation shows that it was counter-shaded, likely as camouflage. The tail has tall, bristle-like filaments running down the edge in at least one species of Psittacosaurus.

In The Isle[]

Only playable in Sandbox mode.

The Psittacosaurus is the weakest dinosaur as of right now in the game. It is about half the size of a Dryosaurus, and it is the second slowest dinosaur in-game. Many small predators are dangerous to it, especially the Velociraptor and Austroraptor.

Luckily, you can blend into the grass very well just by resting. Predators are less likely to see you this way.

The Psittacosaurus has the ability to burrow. (hold right-click). This ability can be used to hide and avoid predators, as they can not enter your burrow. Right-click to exit again.

It can spawn as AI in Survival and Sandbox mode.

Behind The Scenes[]

It was modeled by Jake Baardse. The model was revealed to the public by Dondi on July 15, 2016. Its colors are also based on a recent reconstruction that was termed "the most accurate dinosaur ever found".
